The Dark Trend of Hidden Spy Cameras: Friends Garments Changing Room Case

From changing rooms to public toilets, the dark trend of hidden spy cameras filming women has grown exponentially in the last decade. Even small town like Nagpur is no more an exception. We 4 Change has dealt with such case recently and threw light on the dirty side of garment business.

‘Friends’ Garments situated in the downtown market of Sitabuldi, Nagpur is a reputed, trustworthy and the most famous clothing store since more than five decades. Being a trustworthy brand, many reputed schools and colleges gave the owners contract of uniforms for students. Parents were happy to shop from the most famous and branded shop of Nagpur and rest assured regarding quality of the product and safety of their kids. But this trust and assurance was completely broken when Kisan Inderchand Agrawal, owner of well known ‘Friends’ Garment shop had been arrested on the charges of tapping the video of a 17-year-old teenage girl with a hidden camera at changing room, on the evening of 9 August 2019. In the similar pervert act in the shop an employee Nikhil Chouthmal has also been booked and taken into custody.

The shameful act came into light when a teenage girl along with her friend came to the garment store to spend some happy hours while shopping. The teenager girl from Raisoni College of Engineering went there to buy her a uniform. The girl chose her apparel and headed to the changing room which is located on the second floor of the building. While the girl was trying on the clothes she noticed a hidden camera which was put in changing the room.

When she checked closely, she found a mobile phone with its video recording. The act of taping the video piqued the girl who then came forward and disclosed it to the crowd. The teenage girl even informed the nearby police station which is located at Sitabuldi.

A case has been registered against the owner and the employee of the garment shop who are booked under Section 354(C) and 188 of IPC with section 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual offense (POSCO).
